Research Grants
2016 (January )
Milaney, Katrina, and Gary RS Barron. 2015. “Canadian Network for Mental Health Rights: Connections and Directions”. Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, Connection Grant, $12,093 (4A).
Our application was recommended for funding, but was not funded due to insufficient funds. This application grew from my master's thesis research, I made the necessary contacts, designed the project, coordinated the letters of support, and wrote the entire application, but because at the time of application I was completing my doctoral degree I was not allowed to apply as the principal investigator. However, I found Dr. Katrina Milaney who was interested in the project and willing to serve as principal and work with the network I had built.
2016 (January)
Gondek, Jyoti, Gary RS Barron, and Kristen Desjarlais De Klerk. “Cross-sector Housing Affordability Programs, Practices, and Opportunities (CHAPPO).” Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, Connection Grant, $15,585.40 (4A).
Our application was recommended for funding, but was not funded due to insufficient funds. I designed the research upon which this application was based, wrote the application, recruited scholars to attend as expert participants for the proposed research planning workshops, and coordinated all aspects of the application. The application was completed as part of my work as Research Associate for the Westman Centre for Real Estate Studies, Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary. I could not serve as principal investigator due to my non-tenure track and non management employment status. Dr. Gondek provided editing support and a network of non-profit, private sector, and government contacts to participate in the workshops, and raised matching funds from private sector partners. Dr. Desjarlais De Klerk provide background literature, expertise in regard to problems in the housing system, as well as editing support.
